Bikaner Abhayindia.com In order to make city roads safe for traffic and avoid misappropriation of public funds, concerned agencies, including the Corporation, UIT, BKESL, will be required to inform the Department of Public Works of road reductions even before the start of road strengthening work.
Naresh Joshi, executive engineer at the Public Works Department, said that in line with the 2023-2024 budget announcement, this information was requested by the department due to the early start of the city’s road reinforcement work, so that approval could be given before the road reinforcement work began and the work could be completed. After that, there is no need to dig the road.
Joshi said that the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Development Fund, Water Supply Department, RUIDP, RSEB, BKESL will need to obtain permission to cut the road for their work. According to the estimate, these departments will have to pay the amount of the cut road to the Department of Public Works. He said that in the near future work will be carried out to build and strengthen the missing link of roads of a non-primary category. Once this work is completed, no agency will be allowed to dig roads or carve any other type. If a road is cut without permission, action will be proposed based on the responsibility of the relevant department. After repair work, if the road is arbitrarily cut, then the agency’s executor will not be banned even for the DLP period. The executive engineer said that before the start of the repair work, information about the roads on which these departments should carry out work should be sent.
Strengthening the road will cost Rs 10-10 crores: Naresh Joshi said that according to the budget announcement, it is proposed to build 12 roads of 8.66 km and 20 roads of 18.15 km in Bikaner East and Bikaner West constituencies at a cost of Rs 10 crore each.
