This center is located in the Jodbid area, about 10 km from Bikaner, which was modernized on September 20, 1995 and named the National Camel Research Centre.

Sahu said that the number of one-humped camels in India is about 5 lakhs, which are mainly found in the border states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana in the northwestern arid and semi-arid part of India. The National Camel Research Center is engaged in basic and applied research on single-humped camels, as well as double-humped camels found in the cold desert of the Nubra Valley in Ladakh.
