Jaipur Abhayindia.com Gasoline and diesel prices in Rajasthan may fall. Geloth Government Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said Thursday in Vidhansabha that the decision on VAT rates will only be made by the state government when necessary, given the impact on revenues. He said that the remoteness of the gas station from the oil depot affects the prices for diesel fuel and gasoline. He said the state government had written letters to the central government and oil companies at various times asking them to open new depots in their respective locations in the state.
The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, responding to additional questions asked by members in this regard during Question Hour on behalf of the Minister of Finance, said that Rajasthan is the largest state geographically. The distance between one area in another in the state is quite large compared to other states. The cost of transporting gasoline and diesel fuel increases due to the fact that oil companies do not create enough warehouses here, taking into account the distances. He said the oil comes from the Jodhpur depot at Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu. If warehouses are built near these areas, the cost of transportation will decrease, and the price of oil will also decrease.
Earlier, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs stated in a written response to Satish Punia’s original MLA question that it is not true that due to the lower VAT rate on diesel and gasoline in the border states, diesel is available in the border areas of Sriganganagar. , Hanumangarh, Alvar, Churu… And the sale of gasoline is constantly decreasing. He placed on the table of the House the income received from the said districts over the past three years.
He said that prices for gasoline and diesel fuel depend on many factors, of which VAT is only one. Diesel and gasoline prices vary from state to state depending on the distance of the gas station from the depot, so comparison across states is not possible. Price data for other states is also not maintained by the agency. Dhariwal said that given the impact of VAT on revenues, the state government will make appropriate decisions from time to time if necessary.
