Jaipur Abhayindia.com Taking seriously the hand pumps and tube wells approved in the month of March, which are expected before the second week of July, Dr. Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Health, has given instructions to take action against the engineers concerned. On Thursday, Dr. Aggarwal held a review meeting at the department. According to him, hand pumps and tube wells approved in March-April, which are dug during the rainy season, will supply water to a shallower depth, and they will dry up again next year in the summer season. Due to such negligence of departmental engineers, hand pumps-wells become unusable within a year and the problem of drinking water for ordinary people is not solved.

It is noteworthy that 147 pipe wells from March 2023 and earlier have not yet been put into operation, and 509 pipe wells from April 2023 and later have not yet been put into operation. The maximum delay is in Jodhpur, Sikar, Bikaner, Barmer and Alwar. Similarly, 377 approved before March 2023 and 1,744 approved after April 2023 are still under review. The maximum number of hand pumps is expected in Ajmer, Jaipur, Sikar, Dhaulpur and Sawai Madhopur. Tube wells installed in many areas of the state were not commissioned due to a lack of electrical connection, which affected the progress of the connection to the water supply.

Expressing displeasure at the delay, despite repeated instructions at the monthly review meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary asked that the work of digging hand pumps and tube wells be completed before the rains so that water would be available at the right depth and at least later. must be dry. He asked to strictly follow the instructions not to dig hand pumps during the rainy season. Dr. Aggarwal instructed ACE (Auxiliary Activities) Mr. Satish Jain to focus on negligence work in water certification work for each household. Taking into account the leak in the Bisalpur-Jaipur transmission line last month, he instructed SE (Bisalpur project) to carry out proper maintenance monitoring while remaining on the ground.

Reviewing the progress of major JJM drinking water projects, Dr. Agarwal also inquired about the action taken against firms that had been delayed. At the meeting, it was reported that in the case of 50 percent proportional progress in large projects, two projects were withdrawn from firms, and actions are underway to withdraw five projects. There are currently 11 projects with proportional progress of less than 50 percent. Dr. Aggarwal asked for a red list of firms with less progress in megaprojects and OTMPs to be prepared.

Removed 7888 illegal connections from April to June.

The Additional Chief Secretary inquired about the progress of work to eliminate illegal connections, confiscate boosters, clean tanks, replace old and damaged pipelines in urban and rural areas. At the meeting, it was said that in the current financial year from April to June 30, 8729 illegal water legal relations were identified, 841 connections were settled and 7888 illegal water legal relations were eliminated. Officials said that in the month of June alone, 3,360 illegal water connections were identified, of which 3,092 were removed and 268 connections were settled. Nagaur (950), Ajmer (692), Tonk (608), Nagar Circle, Jodhpur (544) and Barmer (470) are among the counties with the highest number of illegal water connections in 2023-2024. Last year, i.e. in 2022-2023, an average of 1,335 illegal water legal relationships were detected per month, while in the first three months of 2023-2024, 2,910 illegal water legal relationships were detected monthly.

Between April and June, 445 illegal boosters were also seized. After expressing surprise that no illegal boosters were seized in Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh and Ajmer during the month of June, while the number of boosters seized in Banswar, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Pratapgarh was less than 8, ACS dispatched engineers to the site at that time . supply of drinking water, ordered to go and take appropriate action. Notably, the state has seen an average of 446 boosters per month seized over the past three months, up from an average of 72 boosters per month last year. Continuous monitoring of actions against illegal water connections and boosters at the level of the additional chief secretary increased the number of shutdowns of unused water pipes and confiscations of boosters this year.
